Copper In Minecraft

Copper

The copper block is a decorative black that oxidizes over time. It can be crafted into a waxed version that has an identical appearance and does not oxidize. It can also be crafted back into nine copper ingots, unless it is in a fully or partly oxidized state, or has been crafted into the cut variant. This was added to the game in v1.17.

How to get copper?

Copper is found as an ore that can be mined with a pickaxe. If broken with any other tool, nothing will drop. Once mined, you will have to smelt the ore into copper ingots. You can store 9 ingots into a single block of copper by placing them in a crafting grid with one in each grid.

Waxed

You can turn any form of the copper block into a waxed version by using a honeycomb on it. When a copper block is waxed, it will not oxidize, while looking identical to its non-waxed version

Scraped

Upon using an ax on a waxed copper block, it will turn into the respective regular copper block. In addition, using an ax on an exposed, weathered, or oxidized copper block reverts it one stage to a regular, exposed, or weathered copper block respectively.

What is the use of copper?

Copper blocks are used to store ingots in a compact way. As either waxed or non-waxed blocks, they can be used for decorative purposes. You can also cut the copper blocks into stairs and slabs for construction.

Oxidation of copper

If a copper block is left unwaxed, it will begin to oxidize. The oxidation process has four stages including the normal state of the block. Once a copper block is exposed it starts to discolor and green spots appear on it. As the oxidation process continues, the block will turn completely green. If an oxidized block is hit with a bolt of lightning, it will deoxidize.

Conclusion

Copper blocks are storage blocks that can be used to store copper ingots in bulk. They can also be used for decoration and construction. Waxed and oxidized versions of copper blocks can be used to decorate, and you can also use a stonecutter to make stairs and slabs for construction purposes.
