Carrots

Carrots are food items that can be used for nutrition or for breeding pigs and they were added to Minecraft in v1.4.2 in the ‘Pretty Scary Update’. They are a renewable resource, meaning you can make a farm out of them with just a single carrot. They are immensely useful as you can make golden carrots from them making them the second most concentrated food item in the game.

How to get Carrots?


Carrots can sometimes be found growing in farm plots within naturally-generated Villages. You can also find them commonly in loot chests in Pillager outposts and Shipwrecks. Mobs such as zombies, husks, and zombie villagers can also drop carrots when killed by a player or tamed wolf.


What is the use of Carrots?


Carrots are commonly used for eating but they can be used for a lot of different things:


Farming


Carrots can be farmed by planting them on farmland. Planted carrots take 8 stages to grow, and go through 4 visually distinct stages. When harvested you will be able to collect between 2-5 carrots per single crop. Their growth can be accelerated with bone meal.

Breeding


Rabbits and pigs can be bred with the help of carrots. When villagers are given 12 carrots they become willing to breed.

Crafting


Carrots are used in a few crafting recipes, namely Golden Carrot, Carrot on a stick, and Rabbit Stew.
